Router setup and configuration
Whether you have a new router from your broadband provider or a third-party router you have bought yourself, we configure it correctly — setting a secure Wi-Fi password, enabling the right security standard (WPA3 where supported), setting up guest networks, and making sure all your devices connect cleanly. We also check that your router firmware is up to date, which many people never do.
Wi-Fi dead spots and weak signal
If your Wi-Fi signal does not reach certain rooms — a common problem in older properties with thick walls, or in larger homes — we assess the layout and recommend the right solution. This might be as simple as repositioning the router, or it may require a Wi-Fi extender, a powerline adapter, or a mesh Wi-Fi system. We install and configure whichever solution is appropriate for your property, test signal strength throughout, and leave you with consistent coverage in every room you need it.
Mesh Wi-Fi installation
Mesh systems such as Google Nest, BT Whole Home Wi-Fi, Eero, and TP-Link Deco are excellent solutions for larger homes — but setting them up correctly (especially integrating them with an existing broadband router in bridge mode) can be unexpectedly complex. We handle the full installation, configure the mesh nodes in the correct positions, and test roaming performance to make sure your devices hand off seamlessly between nodes as you move around.

New office network installation
Moving into a new office or refitting an existing one? We plan and install the network from scratch — routing Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet to each workstation, installing a managed switch, configuring the router and firewall, setting up wired and wireless access points, and testing throughput at every point. A properly wired office network is significantly faster and more reliable than Wi-Fi for desktops and workstations, and we always recommend a hybrid approach where budget allows.
Network-Attached Storage (NAS) setup
A NAS device gives your team a central location to store and share files — without the cost or complexity of a full server. We set up NAS devices from Synology, QNAP, and other brands: creating shared folders, setting user permissions, configuring automatic backups, and making the storage accessible from every machine on your network. We also configure remote access where needed so staff can reach shared files from home.
Office Wi-Fi access point installation
Consumer routers are not designed for office environments with many simultaneous devices. We install business-grade Wi-Fi access points (Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link Omada, and others) that provide consistent, fast wireless coverage across your workspace — with separate SSIDs for staff and guest devices, and centralised management so we can troubleshoot remotely if issues arise.
Network troubleshooting
If your existing network is unreliable — intermittent dropouts, slow speeds, devices that cannot see each other, or printers that go offline — we carry out a full network audit on-site. We test throughput at every point, check switch and router configurations, inspect cabling for faults, and identify the exact cause before recommending a fix. We do not guess and we do not replace parts speculatively.
Pricing
Home network visits are charged at £85 for the first hour, £55 per hour after that. The flat-rate 2-hour home slot at £130 covers most single-issue Wi-Fi jobs. Office network installations are quoted individually based on the scope of work — contact us with details of your premises and requirements for a written quote. Parts (access points, switches, cabling, NAS devices) are charged separately at cost.
