How do I know if my laptop has an HDD or an SSD?
The quickest way to check: press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, click the Performance tab, then select Disk from the left column. What if my old hard drive is failing?
If your hard drive is failing — making clicking sounds, showing SMART errors, or causing Windows to freeze and stall — data migration may be possible but is not guaranteed. We run SMART diagnostics on arrival and advise you of the drive’s health before proceeding. If the drive is in early failure and data migration is still viable, we proceed immediately to preserve as much data as possible. If significant data has already been lost, we carry out data recovery before or alongside the SSD installation. We will always tell you the situation clearly before any work begins.

Turnaround is typically 1 working day from arrival (we aim for same-day on uncomplicated upgrades). Return delivery by DPD tracked courier is invoiced separately at cost. If we find that data migration is not possible due to drive failure, we will advise on data recovery options before proceeding.
