Have an old laptop or desktop PC at home that you no longer use? Rather than letting it gather dust in a cupboard or sending it to landfill, donate it to Mojoo Limited. We will wipe it securely, repair it if needed, and either sell it on at an affordable price or pass it to someone who genuinely needs it. Your old machine gets a second life — and you get rid of it for free, knowing your data is gone for good.
Why donate rather than bin it?
IT equipment contains materials — metals, plastics, and components — that should not go to general household waste. Under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, electrical items including computers and laptops must be disposed of separately from normal household waste. Your local council provides WEEE collection points (often at household recycling centres), but donating a working or repairable machine to us means it gets a second life rather than being broken down immediately — which is a far better environmental outcome.
What we accept from home users
We accept laptops, desktop PCs, and tower computers in any condition — working, not working, slow, or damaged. We do not need you to wipe the drive first (we will do this securely). We do not need the charger or accessories, though you are welcome to include them. We do not currently accept CRT monitors, all-in-one printers as standalone donations, mobile phones, or tablets.
What happens to your data?
This is the question we get asked most often — and rightly so. Every storage device in every donated machine is securely wiped before the device is assessed, refurbished, or passed on. We do not look at your personal files, we do not sell devices with data intact, and we do not pass drives to third parties. If the drive cannot be reliably wiped (because it is physically damaged), it is physically destroyed. You will not find your holiday photos or bank statements on a machine we have sold. Do I need to wipe my laptop before donating?
No — you do not need to do anything to the device before bringing it in. We handle all data sanitisation as a matter of course. If you have already done a factory reset or deleted your files, that is fine, but it is not necessary and it does not change anything we do on our end. The secure wipe we carry out is far more thorough than a factory reset in any case.
Will my donated machine be sold?
If the machine is functional or repairable at reasonable cost, yes — it will most likely be refurbished and sold through our refurbished hardware channel at an affordable price, or passed to a local community organisation or charity if an appropriate opportunity arises. If the machine is beyond economic repair, it will be broken down for usable spare parts, with anything remaining directed to WEEE recycling. The revenue from refurbished sales is what allows us to collect and process donated equipment without charging for it — so your donation genuinely supports a small local business and keeps useful hardware in circulation.
How to donate your old computer
Simply drop it off at our workshop at 4 Atlas Grove, West Bromwich, B70 9EB, Monday to Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday 9am–12pm. No appointment needed for a single laptop or desktop — just bring it in. If you have multiple machines or large items that are difficult to transport, call us on 07958 468 173 and we may be able to arrange a collection, particularly if you are in the West Midlands area.
Can I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes. If you need a receipt for your records — for insurance, asset disposal documentation, or simply peace of mind — ask when you drop off and we will provide a simple written receipt confirming the date, a description of the equipment, and that it was received by Mojoo Limited for refurbishment and data destruction.
