Why your current backup probably is not good enough
Files saved to your desktop or Documents folder are not backed up — they are just stored on your hard drive. If that drive fails, they are gone. Cloud backup setup
Cloud backup keeps a copy of your data off-site automatically, protecting you against local disasters — fire, flood, theft — as well as hardware failure. We set up and configure cloud backup services such as Backblaze, IDrive, or Microsoft 365 cloud backup for your specific devices and data. We configure what is backed up, how frequently, and how long versions are retained — and we test restoration to confirm the backup is genuinely usable, not just apparently running.
NAS-based backup for businesses
For small businesses with multiple computers, a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device provides centralised backup for every machine on the network. We select, install, and configure a Synology or QNAP NAS appropriate for your data volume and user count — setting up automated backup jobs from each workstation, configuring RAID for drive redundancy, and enabling cloud replication to a secondary off-site location. A properly configured NAS gives you fast local recovery and off-site protection simultaneously.
Backup verification and health checks
Many businesses discover their backup was not working — or was backing up the wrong files — only when they try to restore after a disaster. Home backup setup visits start at £85 for the first hour. Setting up automated external drive backup and cloud backup on a single home computer typically takes one hour. Business NAS installation and multi-device backup setup is quoted individually based on the number of devices and data volume — contact us for a written quote. Cloud backup subscription costs (Backblaze, IDrive, etc.) are paid directly to the provider and are not included in our setup fee. Hardware (external drives, NAS devices) is charged at cost.
