Custom Gaming PCs in West Bromwich: Spec Yours With Our Online PC Builder

A lot of the gaming PCs that come into the workshop for repair have the same story behind them. They were bought online as a “bargain” pre-built, and somewhere along the line a corner was cut: a power supply with no real headroom, a case with poor airflow, or a graphics card that doesn’t suit the rest of the system.

That’s the main reason I build custom gaming PCs. You get parts that suit each other and suit what you actually play, not whatever happened to be in a bundle.

Spec it yourself with our online PC builder

To make this easier, there’s now a Custom PC Builder on our shop. It walks you through a gaming build step by step:

You can play around with it as much as you like. Swap a graphics card, drop down a processor tier, and see straight away what it does to the price.

Where to spend and where to save

After more than 25 years of building and repairing PCs, this is roughly how I’d split a gaming budget:

Memory is expensive at the moment, which I covered in why RAM and SSD prices are so high in 2026. The AM4 platform uses DDR4, which currently costs less than DDR5, so it can still be a sensible choice for a tighter budget.

Built and tested in West Bromwich

Every custom PC is assembled here in our West Bromwich workshop and tested under load before it goes out. That means checking temperatures, stability and that everything performs as it should, not just that it switches on.

If something isn’t right later on, you know exactly who built it and where to find us.

Already have a gaming PC?

You don’t always need a new machine. A graphics card, more memory or better cooling can often give an existing PC a new lease of life. Take a look at our gaming PC repair and upgrades page, or bring it in and I’ll give you an honest opinion on whether it’s worth upgrading.

Captain Ai

Despite the name, Captain Ai is not a robot. Probably. He has been poking around the insides of computers since 1984, when a Toshiba MSX swallowed his pocket money and never gave it back. He speaks fluent beep code, has rescued more hard drives than he's had hot dinners, and firmly believes most problems can be solved with the right screwdriver and a strong cup of tea. Based in West Bromwich, he writes about repairs, builds and the odd tech rant: no jargon, no upsells, and no "have you tried turning it off and on again?" unless it really will help.
