Is it the screen — or something else?
Before sending your laptop, it is worth doing a quick test to confirm the screen is the fault and not the graphics hardware. Plug your laptop into an external monitor or TV using an HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C cable and see if the image appears correctly on the external display. If it does — the screen or its cable is the fault, and mail-in screen repair is the right solution. If the external display is also blank or corrupted, the issue is likely with the GPU or motherboard, and you should call us first on 07958 468 173 before sending.
Screen faults we repair by post
Cracked or shattered screen
Physical cracks, pressure damage, or a shattered panel always require a full screen replacement — there is no repair for broken glass. We source the correct replacement panel for your specific model (LCD, IPS, or OLED as appropriate), fit it, and test at full brightness and resolution before returning your laptop. The outer bezel is reused where undamaged.
Flickering screen or horizontal lines
Flickering, colour banding, or horizontal lines at certain brightness levels are most commonly caused by a failing display cable or a deteriorating panel backlight. We inspect and test the display cable first — a cable replacement is significantly cheaper than a full panel and resolves this fault in many cases. If the panel itself is failing, we replace it and confirm the fault is resolved before returning your laptop.
Blank or black screen (backlight failure)
If your laptop powers on but the screen stays completely dark — though you may be able to see a very faint image if you shine a torch at the screen at an angle — the backlight has failed. This is a panel fault that requires screen replacement. We confirm this diagnosis on arrival before beginning any work.
Broken hinge damaging the screen bezel
A broken hinge can cause the screen bezel to crack or split, which over time puts stress on the display panel and cable. If your laptop has a hinge fault alongside screen damage, please mention this when you contact us so we can assess both at the same time. Hinge repair combined with screen replacement in a single visit avoids a second send and return.
How to find your laptop model number
When you contact us, please have your laptop model number ready — this is usually printed on a sticker on the base of the laptop and takes the form of a product name and a model or part number (for example, “HP Pavilion 15-eh1xxx” or “Dell Inspiron 15 3520”). This allows us to confirm screen availability and price before you post. If you cannot find it, take a photo of the base sticker and email it to us at info@mojoo.co.uk.

We replace screens on laptops from all major manufacturers: Dell, HP, Lenovo (ThinkPad, IdeaPad, Yoga), Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Samsung, Sony, MSI, Razer, and most Chromebook models. We do not service Apple MacBooks by mail. If you have a less common brand or model, contact us and we will check panel availability before you send.
Pricing and turnaround
Mail-in laptop screen replacement starts from £59 for standard HD LCD panels, with higher-resolution, IPS, OLED, and touch panels priced higher due to part cost. We confirm the exact price after receiving your laptop and identifying the correct panel — no surprises. Turnaround is typically 1–2 working days from arrival. Return delivery by DPD tracked courier is invoiced separately at cost (approximately £8–£10). Diagnosis is free — if we cannot fix the fault, you pay nothing.
